Welcome to Uttara Guruvayurappan Temple

Cultural Events

  • ANNUAL UTSAVAM
The endeavour of the Executive Committee always has been to ensure that during each years’ Utsavam, we are able to provide a rich cultural and religious experience for the devotees. Every year, we have tried our utmost to bring to the devotees of Lord Guruvayurappan, a religious and socio-cultural extravaganza, that not only gives us an opportunity to experience the divinity within but also re-acquaint ourselves with the deep-rooted traditions of our temple culture.

The week long religious and cultural festival during Annual Utsavam is an opportunity to immerse ourselves in our rich cultural heritage, and also provide a window for our future generation to sample the truly mesmerizing cultural rituals and art forms prevalent in Kerala. Our attempt is to offer an opportunity for the devotees to partake in the various poojas and religious ceremonies that will be part of the Annual Utsavam and also enjoy the cultural fare put together during these days. Some cultural highlights, we look forward to every year are the mesmerizing percussion ensembles, scintillating Panchavadyam and Thayambaka by versatile artists from Kerala, Nadaswaram Kachery by renowned Vidwans, ancient temple art performances of Ottan Thullal, Chakyar Koothu, Kathakali, Ashtapathi, etc., Dance sequences, music events both vocal and instrumental – all events carefully chosen to showcase the best of our cultural essence and legacy.

    PROMOTING CULTURAL ACTIVITIES
The Temple provides an excellent platform for encouragement and promotion of traditional forms of art and culture.

Facilities are also being provided to the young children in the neighborhood to learn various dance forms from experienced teachers. They also get ample opportunities to exhibit their talents during Mandalam Celebrations, Navarathri and other important events.

The annual event of Dr. K.P. Ittaman Memorial Competitions in Narayaneeyam recitation, Bhagavad Geetha recitation, Ramayana Parayanam, Carnatic and Light Devotional Music etc. attract a large number of young talents. This annual event is generally conducted in the month of July-August.
